Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 11 March 1988. Mitchell discusses his early family life and religious experiences growing up in Columbus, Ohio and his work and career in the military. He talks about his conversion to the Mormon Church, its impact on his present life, the experiences of other black Mormons, and ways to improve missionary work.
